Home to the “Samba”, colorful carnivals, beautiful beaches and beautiful people, Brazil has long been a top tourist destination attracting large numbers of visitors each year.

Brazil is the largest country on the South American Continent with a population currently estimated at 186.1 million people. The country is a former Portuguese colony having achieved its independence in 1822. Portuguese is also the national language here though Spanish is also widely spoken.

A majority of the country’s population resides along the Coast off the Atlantic Ocean. Here you will find some of the largest and most populous cities in the world in Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro.

The country’s population consists of a mix of; Amerindian, Portuguese, German, Italian, Asian and African peoples.

The Brazilian economy is a somewhat complex one. The Country is among the top ten largest economies in the world and is home to a wealth of natural resources that consist of; Minerals and rich agricultural lands.

Levels of poverty are still felt by parts of the population especially in the major cities where unemployment and crime are a problem.

These problems however do not seem to seriously affect the country’s people willingness to have a good time. The football stadiums are filled each weekend as locals cheer for their favorite teams; there are the popular yearly carnivals and a healthy beach culture,

The Brazilian people are a friendly lot and rarely do visitors here feel unwelcome.
