Many parts of Brazil are not able to cater for various needs of travelers with disabilities. Common problems include; poor access for people with wheel chairs in a number of public utilities such as lifts, building entrances and buses, which are normally packed.

Some cities such as Curitiba however have well developed infrastructure and transport systems.
A transport alternative while in the country would be by taxi. There are many of them around and are considerably cheap.

It is important as a traveler to know what to expect. Hotels are usually hospitable with friendly staff willing to assist you.

Brazil’s airports are some of the best in the continent. Many of them have wheelchairs available at arrival lounges and exit points. Domestic flights too are able to provide for people with disabilities. The major international airports also have healthcare facilities in case of emergencies.
