Para State:
Para is a large north Brazilian State classified under the North Region of the country together with the States of Acre, Amapa, Amazonas, Rondonia, Roraima and Tocantins. Home to a varied geographical landscape, the State has a number of rivers, lakes and mountains. The inland areas of Para are mostly under the Amazon Rainforest. The State is home to an estimated 5.2 million residents.
Economy:
Para has a healthy agricultural sector which produces; cassava, sugar cane, oranges and cocoa. Livestock rearing also takes place here. Para is an important mining state producing; iron ore, bauxite, gold, limestone and manganese.

Belem City:
Belem is a City in the north Amazonia Regions of Brazil and the Capital of Para State. The City has an estimated 1.4 million residents and is the largest in the State situated off the North Atlantic Ocean in the Guajara Bay, on the equator. The name Belem is a Portuguese word meaning “Bethlehem” after the holy Israeli City. It is here at the city that the Para and Tocantins Rivers empty into the Atlantic.
