Parana State:
Parana is a southern Brazilian State bordering Argentina. The State has an estimated population of approximately 9.2 million people. The State was created from the division of Sao Paulo in 1852.
Economy:
Agriculture dominates the Parana economy. The State produces; coffee and livestock. Forestry and the service industry are the main commercial activities industry in the state.
Cities and Towns:
Curitiba, considered the best city to live in, in Brazil, is the Capital of Parana State. The City is beautiful and well planned; an amalgamation of well maintained recreational parks, a proficient transport system and developed road network.
The City was founded in 1693 as a residential camp for the nearby gold mines. The City now has an estimated population of 1.75 million people, many of whom are migrants from Eastern Europe.
Other major cities in Parana are; Foz do Iguaçu, Cascavel, Paranagua, Pato Branco and Londrina.
Airports:
The main airports in Parana are the Afonso Pena International Airport in Curitiba City, the Foz do Iguaçu International Airport in Foz do Iguaçu and the Maringa Domestic Airport.
Tourism in Parana:
Parana has very few social and economic problems. Crime levels within the state are fairly low making it a pleasurable place to visit. There is not much to offer in terms of tourist attractions except old colonial buildings and historic monuments that have been well preserved.
