Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known all over the world as Pele is a legendary Brazilian soccer player considered by many as the greatest man ever to play the game. Pele was born on the 23rd of October 1940 at the small City of Tres Coracoes in the State of Minas Gerais.

Times Magazine handed him the distinction of being one of the hundred most influential people of the century.
Indeed aspiring soccer players around the world look up to him and many dream of emulating the successes that Pele had on the field. Pele developed as a center midfielder who was capable of probing opposition defenses with good ball control, dribbling and acute passing. He also had a knack for scoring goals.

A young Pele:

Pele grew up in Sao Paulo where he played soccer with the other kids on the streets. His talents were noticed by the tender age of eleven when he was picked up by a local soccer team Clube Atletico Bauru.
At the age of fifteen, Pele went for trials with the Santos football club, one of the leading clubs in the country then. At the age of seventeen, Pele was representing the Brazilian national team at the 1958 world cup in Sweden, where he announced his entry on the international scene by scoring twice for Brazil in the final.
Brazil won the cup with a 5-2 margin against Sweden. Pele participated in the next three world cups and was part of the winning teams in the 1962 and 1970 world cups. Pele finished of his career with the New York Cosmos an American club and retired from the game in 1977
