Piaui State:
Piaui is State in Brazil’s Northeastern Region with an estimated population of 3 million people. The State is situated to the north of Bahia State and to the Southeast of Maranhao. It has a very short coastline off the Atlantic Ocean when even compared to the smaller States.
Economy and Tourism:
Small scale subsistence farming and livestock rearing is prominent in Piaui. The State is home to the Serra da Capivara National Park. This is a well preserved archaeological park declared a world heritage site by the United Nations. The City of Teresina also has some good beaches and its historic buildings and monuments are good for sightseeing at a leisurely pace.

Teresina is the Capital of Piaui State with a population of about one million residents. The City is served by the Senador Petronio Portella Airport, which mainly conducts domestic intercity flights.
Other important cities in Piaui are; Floriano and Picos.
