Sao Paulo State:

The main economic and commercial capital of Brazil, Sao Paulo is also home to one of the largest cities in the world the City of Sao Paulo. The State’s history dates back to 1532 when the settlement village of Sao Vicente was founded by the Portuguese.

Today Sao Paulo contributes largely to the Brazilian economy and the State is home to a number of prominent multi-national firms.

Cities of Sao Paulo:

The City of Sao Paulo is the Capital of this State. This is a modern city with developed transport systems featuring; a subway line, highways and airports. The city has an estimated 10 million residents. Other prominent cities in the state are; Sao Jose dos Campos, Sorocaba, Santos, Campinas, Santo Andre, Osasco, Sao Bernado de Campo and Guarulhos.

Economy:

The State is home to the “Bovespa”, the Brazilian Stock exchange which is situated in Sao Paulo City. Home to a large manufacturing industry, Sao Paulo produces a wide range of goods including; telecommunications equipment, automobiles, textiles, computers, airplanes, crude oil refining and boats. Agriculture is also prominent in the state producing; oranges, coffee and sugarcane.

Tourism:

The State of Sao Paulo attracts numerous visitors each year mainly to its beaches, cultural and sporting events and for entertainment. The State has a good number of quality hotels, some of the best in the country, a variety of restaurants and nightclubs.
