Sao
Vicente is an iconic Brazilian City considered to be the first
municipality to be established in the Country in 1532 by the Portuguese
as a port to cater for the arrival of slave ships from Africa.
It officially became a city in 1895. The City is situated in the
Sao Paolo State with an estimated population of 279, 620 residents.
It is only about 100 km from the City of Sao Paolo.
Economy:
This coastal city’s economy depends mainly on the tourism
industry which attracts numerous visitors to Sao Vicente’s
beaches and entertainment spots.
Tourism:
Sao Vicente has a number of attractions for tourists including;
Gonzaguinha beach, Millionarios beach, Porchat Island, the “hanging
bridge” and a host of historical buildings and monuments
integral to the city’s history.
The City also has a number of good restaurants, hotels, pubs
and shopping centers.
Transport:
Sao Vicente has a good and frequent bus service to most destinations
within the city. A new bus port is currently under construction.
