Sergipe is a tiny Brazilian State situated sandwiched between Alagoas to the north and Bahia to the south on the east coast of the country.

The Sergipe economy:

The State’s economy has for centuries been reliant on the large scale agricultural industry which mainly produces oranges and sugarcane. The State is also home to an infant-stage petroleum industry.

Cities and towns:

Aracaju:

Aracaju is the capital of Sergipe State with a population of about half a million residents. The city is home to a marine park, a number of wonderful beaches, museums and entertainment venues.

Other major cities in Sergipe are; Estancia and Itabaiana.

Air services:

The main airport in Sergipe is the Santa Maria airport in Aracaju. This airport caters mainly for passenger and cargo interstate flights.

Tourism:

The main tourist attractions in Sergipe are its beaches and historical buildings. The main beaches are; Meio and Coroa. Other interesting places to visit include; the Emperors Bridge, the Military Police
