Tourist information and assistance:
Even before you leave home for Brazil, you can find useful information from your nearest Brazilian consulate on travel to the Country. The consulate can also provide you with a guide and maps if you require them. The information is also easily available online at any of the embassy websites and the Brazilian foreign ministry website at: http://www.mre.gov.br
The homepage is in Portuguese and there is a link at the top left that translates the site to English.
The Site provides information and answers on; frequently asked questions, tourist attractions, visa and travel conditions. The site also provides information on Brazilian embassies and consulates around the world.
Tourist offices in Brazil:
Major tourist destinations such as Rio, Salvador and Sao Paulo have tourist information centers conveniently located to provide assistance. Some of the major international airports also have tourist information offices. Information centers provide information on tourist attractions; provide guide books and maps (though these are mostly in Portuguese).
Information centers are however very rare in the smaller towns and in remote locations inland.
